Third Rock Chapter of the Intergalactic Baseball Genesis Project A Mission of the Church of Baseball |
|
To the faithful: We must heal our own wounds and continue our pilgrimages! Grace be upon us that we may See the Orb, Sacrifice at the Field, and Circle the Square! Let us spread these blessings far and wide! Praise to the Creation!
Services are scheduled for Thursday July 10, 5 pm, at Oxnard College.
Captain Zworbg of the Intergalactic Baseball Genesis Project regularly visits the Angels' travel director to provide instruction on spreading the news of Life Upon the Field. Should the travel director speak to you in non sequiturs, you may bear direct witness to the effects of these holy visits.
This site is dedicated to the devotion of Our Lady of the Mukuno.

Mike Mukuno |
"In earthly slumber was the servant of baseball visited upon by a virgin of many complexions, who spaketh thus, 'Harken, Nazar, I am not your concubine, cease thine groping forthwith! Nay, I am sent as the Messenger of the Assimilation! You are to bring forth the one baptized as the Mukuno to represent all nations and fill the oppressor and his serpents with anguish. But sit him first in his innocence and let him banter amongst his friends until the time is ripe!' With that the Messenger departed. The servant of baseball wakened in fear and trembling, but by his faith he heeded the words of the Messenger...
"As the battle began, he sat the Mukuno on the side amongst his peers, and they chortled together as do young hatchlings in the pen. The servant of baseball grew anxious as the rods of the heavenly hosts flailed at the holy orb but succeeded not against the oppressor and his serpents. Yet with abiding faith, Nazar stayed the Mukuno until the very end, and thereupon instructed him to take to the sword...
"Whereupon the annointed one, known to them as the Mukuno, bestrode upon the diagonal and faced the oppressor. Twice the hurler pitched through to the Mukuno, who struck air on the first and gazed upon the second. The first shew the sign of youth intact, the second that of patient age. But upon a third, the Mukuno shew direct his mastery of his time and place on that battlefield, a master now of the spirit in Life.
"For thence from his rod straightaway flew with great strength the holy orb beyond the serpent of the center field! And so it came to past that he the Mukuno with the help of his brethren movethed in a full circle around the full square to rejoin the seraphim and sing the praises once again of the Creator of the Field that Giveth Life."
"And the Apparition of the Messenger appeared, and the strength of the Mukuno came over all of them as they went on in added battle, and held in final defense, doubling up the enemy who boasted three to the base. Whereupon they heard a deep-throated song from the woman broad of girth, so came to rest at last, in victory."

Recent (2003) results: Saturday May 31 & Sunday June 1 doubleheaders, San Francisco State University, Maloney Field against Oakland Expos. On Saturday, Won 2-1 (9inns) and 3-2 (7inns). On Sunday, Won 8-6 (11inns) and 3-2 (8inns).
On Saturday at "the Swamp,"
the Place of the Visitation, pitching dominated. The Angels batters didn't
strike out in the first game, but mustered only 4 hits, all singles. The
Angels leadoff hitter, ex-pro centerfielder Colin Stewart, reached base three
times, stole twice, and scored the first of the two runs. Angels hurler
Ben
Smith (SF State) took a dominating three-hit shutout into the 8th inning, but
ran into control problems, lacking the wisdom of confidence in the
transcendence of his sacrifice. Wes Bentley
(SF State) bore the sacrifice to
earn the save. click here for box scores & recaps
After Sunday's battle, Brother Lance Stevens now has 13 straight victories with the Angel fellowship. Father Nazar praises the courage of Brother Stevens, as well as Brothers Colin Stewart, Chris Scrogings, Django Whittington Brudnick, Brad Shannon, and all the seraphim who now in piety stand bestowed with blessings unmatched by any previous cult.
On Wednesday June 4, Won 8-4 (8inns) by grace of a four-run 6th, added respect for the SF Giants who had tied it with a four-run 4th, but none for the bone-chilling climate of their favorite field, Balboa Park. Brother Django hit the right-center gap in the open field to lead off the 2nd inning, and circled the square.
Brother Keian Davis used the wings on his feet to catch the flying orb in the left of field for the last out of the contest. The Defender of the Faith followed the orb along over a multitude of cubits as it drifted back with the wind and out to the softball field toward San Jose Avenue. He then cradled it in as a mother does when she lets her young toddler run free until she sees his need for the safety of her bosom.

On Thursday June 5, Won 7-6 (9inns) over the Oakland Eagles. The teams complemented each other with 5 errors apiece. The Eagles stole home. Do your penance! We are blessed despite our sins.
The game marks the return of the tower of righteousness, Jason Hotton (Hayward State). The congregation also welcomes hurler Conor Bird (SF State) to the flock.

Above: In a ritual sacrifice, Brother Stevens draws upon life from the field, and delivers it back in turn. Below: Another practitioner of the pitching sacrifice, Christian Aguirre (Sonoma State). Construction of this exact archetypal baseball totem is replicated in billions of galaxies.

Our fellowship has been blessed with the arrival of Father Doug Price from the SF City College ministry, who will assist Father Nazar and work with us to improve our devotion to the striking of the holy orb. Father Price serves the sacraments at a North Beach pub, where he is an authority on experimental transubstantiation.
